Iditarod Ceremonial Start 2027: Sled Dog Teams Through Downtown Anchorage

The 2027 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race kicks off with the Ceremonial Start in downtown Anchorage on Saturday, March 6 at 10:00am. Teams leave the start line under the Mushing District arch on 4th Avenue at D Street at two-minute intervals, then turn onto Cordova Street and run about 11 miles of city streets and greenbelt trails to Campbell Airstrip. It's free to watch. Walk 4th Avenue and the side streets to see mushers and their dogs getting ready, or cheer from Cordova Hill or the Chester Creek Trail. The competitive race restarts the next day (Sunday, March 7, 2pm) in Willow. Dress for the cold.
