About

Special Pals is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal shelter founded in 1979 that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes animals in the Houston metro area. The organization operates a no-kill facility and provides community resources including low-cost wellness clinics, spay/neuter surgeries, and a foster care network. They also host adoption events and educational programs to promote animal welfare.

What people say

Praised as one of the cleanest shelters with well-cared-for animals and a commitment to finding the best homes, though some adopters report slow communication and strict placement requirements.
